The Game With No Name
Visit ProjectMadness and Mayhem
I've always enjoyed programming video games. The Game With No Name is a multiplayer first person shooter game I made for my friends and I to play. It features four weapons, each have very unique abilities as well as a few maps, each of them having their own personality and dynamic features.
Did Development Stop?
Yes. This game took a long time to make but I never reached a full finishing point. There was no reason to keep on making the game other than to play with friends. Did I learn a lot making this game? Oh yes. Did I have fun making and playing it? Oh yes. Although I attempted to grow the game online and get funding, nothing much ever came of it. I still bust this game out every once in a while when hanging with friends.

Development Process
The game is developed in Unreal Engine 5, giving a me good set of tools for creating and design. I learned a lot about game design, especially map design, early on learning about the scale of maps and what causes good fights to happen. When creating maps I initially made everything way too big, where players were never able to find each other. After shrinking down the map 3 times I found a good way to set the scale. I was also surprised to see that some setups I made for gunfights never happened, and instead found that players would invent new and creative ways to fight one another.
"I made this section of the map in hopes to have gunfights happen here. Instead everyone just tries to camp and snipe accross the map like a COD player.
Designing the cavern map was where I was able to think of verticality, making some spots only accessible by players who were better at the game, but these unique locations didn't get them a full advantage, they were still able to be killed. I got to think about angles, where people would look, and how people would find cover. I never wanted to make anything unfair. Minecarts were also another fun feature to add, making it so players can jump on them and take a ride, or cause an unaware player to get hit by them.

This is one of my favorite projects I've ever made. If you're rich and want to subsidize the creation of this full game, please click the contact button.
