Hi, I'm Chris Price — a composer, educator, and all-around music nerd based in Spokane, Washington. I earned my music degree from Whitworth University, and ever since, I’ve been diving deeper into everything from jazz theory to ensemble writing to weird experimental textures. I love learning, and I’ve never really stopped.
My main instruments are piano and trombone, but I try to stay flexible — I’ve picked up a lot of others along the way. I’m heavily involved in my church community, and you can usually catch me playing with the Spokane Falls Community College Jazz Band and a few of its combos. Over the years I’ve played in musicals, at private events, and onstage at professional gigs across the region.
I’ve been lucky to write for ensembles across the country — one of the coolest partnerships has been with the Boise Gems Drum & Bugle Corps. Beyond writing, I also work hands-on with groups, helping with instrumental technique, visual performance, and student leadership. I love being part of the growth process.
Alongside composing, I’m also a programmer. I’ve built a publishing website where I showcase not just my own music, but works by other composers too. If you write music and want to reach performers, check out the site and see if it's a good fit. My goal with chrispricemusic.net is to make a platform where composers feel seen, and musicians can easily find exactly what they need.
If you want to hear my music live, here's what's coming up!
I genuinely believe success isn't about winning — it's about motion. If you’re moving toward your goals, you’re already doing the most important part. I’ve been playing and writing music for over a decade, and I love sharing what I’ve learned. If you're interested in lessons — whether you're just starting out or want to go deeper — hit the button below to learn more.

I write about music, creativity, education, and whatever’s inspiring me at the moment. Sometimes it's deep dives into composition techniques, other times it's stories from the road or thoughts on music education. If you’re curious about how I think — or just want some behind-the-scenes — the blog is where it lives.
My programming blogs are mixed in there as well!
