Mixing Sounds For Drumline Designer
EQ That Makes Mountains Look Flat
As I said in my main post about drumline designer, I have been working on the sounds for the program for a very long time. Recording the drumline sounds itself took a while, with some sounds I want to redo due to me not being the best percussionist, but the main chunk of time has been EQing every drum to sound great on all devices.
Messing with EQ is funny, especially with having a big powerful computer with strong speakers moving those sounds over to a phone. I found that compression quickly destroys audio quality and that phones like to make the tonality of the drums speak more. Bass drums sounded like someone tapping on a window, giving this strange long "thdoon" sound. Only after slaughtering the sound through 8 different EQ filters was I finally able to get a sound I like.
Now to finish all 6 tenors, flubs, and cymbals.
